Shocking departure at Apple: Alan Dye joins Meta team

Ana sayfa / News

News of a transfer that will shift the balance of power in the tech world has hit the headlines like a bombshell. Apple’s longtime leader in interface design has left the company and signed with social media and technology giant Meta. This surprising development sees Alan Dye poised to assume a critical role at Meta.

Alan Dye, the leader of Apple’s interface design team, has been a key figure in shaping the company’s visual language since 2015. According to reports, the experienced executive will officially leave Apple on December 31st. In the new year, he will take on the new position of “Chief Design Officer,” created by Meta.

For this transfer, Meta is establishing a dedicated design studio and granting Dye extensive authority. Alan Dye will be responsible for all interface designs across the company’s hardware, software, and AI integration processes. Reporting directly to Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth, Dye will shape the visual face of the company’s metaverse and AI vision.

This departure also brings with it a significant reshuffling of leadership within Apple’s design team. Steve Lemay, who has been with the company since 1999 and is the man behind many iconic interfaces, will take over the position vacated by Alan Dye. Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized that Lemay is one of the individuals who best reflects the company’s culture of collaboration and creativity.

This departure, however, is a continuation of the recent shedding of resources within Apple’s upper management. Following Jony Ive’s departure in 2019, the departures of figures like Evans Hankey signal a restructuring of the design team. All eyes are now on how Apple’s interfaces will evolve in the future under Steve Lemay’s leadership.
